Role synopsis

The Process Safety TA is an individual contributor in engineering within S+OR. This experienced engineer acts as ‘the conscience of the company’ with the skills, experience and credibility to provide:

  • S&OR connectivity/involvement in line activity and processes and intervenes and escalates as appropriate to cause corrective action.
  • Deep technical expertise for long term value focusing on what is important for the business, predominantly process safety and integrity risks that have potential for company-level impact,
  • A significant contribution to One Team as a professional engineer (e.g. through coaching/mentoring, involvement in development/update of practices, external representation etc.)

Key accountabilities

  • Sets clear S&OR-mandated requirements for engineering
  • Recommends to the EA which ETPs are to be applied for engineering and advises the EA on proposed deviations to these.
  • Links with relevant SETA for two-way communication on relevant engineering practices and risk- related issues. Maintains an independent view of S&O risk
  • Provides independent assurance of competency assessment and deployment/recruitment processes that underpin engineering capability.
  • Supports and advises the EA in assurance of risk management processes to engineered systems, relevant OMS Conformance Plans and the engineering requirements of OMS. Advises the EA on discipline risks
  • Supports and advises the EA in assurance that barriers against significant safety and environmental process safety risks are fit for service, that the risks are accurately characterized in Risk Action Plans and that appropriate progress is being made on continuous risk reduction.
  • Supports and advises the EA in assurance the engineering content of operating procedures including up to date design and operating limits, plus the tracking and follow-up of excursions
  • Assurance of readiness for start-up of new projects or readiness for restart of existing facilities following turnarounds and /or modifications.
  • Supports and advises the EA in assurance that a structured and systematic process is in place and enduring for the testing, inspection and maintenance of safety & environmentally critical equipment. Assures regulatory compliance, appropriate characterization of risk, and proper integrity assessment when returning damaged or out-of-service equipment to service
  • Supports and advises the EA in developing and delivering a structured and systematic program of assurance in engineering and works with leadership to manage risk. Provides assurance of key contractor and supplier verification processes.
  • Holds deep technical expertise in service of setting & implementing S&OR requirements and executing the assurance scope and incident investigations
  • Intervenes and escalates as appropriate to cause corrective action
  • Contributes to engineering learning, CI and practice improvement and training

Essential Education

  • Degree and Professional Accreditation (CEng/PE) with Process or Process Safety Engineering Institution/ body

Essential experience and job requirements

  • 15 years of industrial experience
  • Technical competence in the Process or Process Safety engineering, with experience across engineering in Projects and Operations
  • Knowledge of the engineering requirements of OMS Sub-element 3.1, 3.3 and 5.3 and relevant Group, Segment and Entity engineering requirements.

Sr Reservoir Engineer

Role synopsis

This role is an individual contributor Senior Reservoir Engineer position within the reservoir management team of Shah Deniz (SD). The role will be accountable for leading all reservoir engineering activities for the full field development with strong communication and coaching skills. The person will provide subsurface assurance for the Shah Deniz reservoirs and integrate cross functional activities and the resource progression opportunities that maximize economic value.

The Senior Reservoir Engineer should be an experienced practitioner of classical reservoir engineering methods applied to giant fields, as well as be able to use simulation models to provide more detailed studies. The person will develop and oversee strategies and protocols for good reservoir management, these include Integrated Subsurface Description (ISD), Reservoir Performance Prediction (RPP), Depletion Planning (DP) and will also ensure these are supported by an appropriate surveillance strategy and subsurface uncertainties & risk management (SURM) plan.

The role is Baku based and will report to SD RM Team Leader.

Key accountabilities

  • Lead reservoir engineering activities in the team including technical assurance and coordinate/propose workplans for RE’s in the team

  • A thorough knowledge of Discovered Resources Management (DRM), SURM, Depletion Planning, and the writing of ISD and RPP documents is essential
  • Build organizational capability through knowledge sharing and coaching of junior members of staff and provide wider reservoir engineering input to the business
  • Ability to clearly and succinctly communicate technical subjects to both regional and functional leadership, within the Reservoir Development team
  • Contributes to sharing reservoir development understanding of the field with Partners and State Oil Representatives and others as needed

Essential Education

B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering or related applied sciences

  • Extensive Reservoir Engineering experience in giant field development
  • Strong reservoir engineering skills including reservoir performance, reservoir management and reservoir simulation
  • Confident, open communicator; experienced with presenting to senior management and partners
  • Experience working in multi-discipline / functional project team and ability to influence others to provide quality inputs to ensure quality team delivery.
  • Experience in integration with PEs and geoscience disciplines to enhance production
  • Experience in coaching
  • Certification in Discovered Resources Management
  • Azerbaijani citizenship is required

Completions Engineer

Role synopsis

The Completion Engineer (CE) reports to the Senior Completions Engineer. Key accountabilities

  • Ensure all well operations are planned & executed according to BP Drilling & Well Operations Policy (including ETPs) and OMS (Operating Management System).
  • Ensure an integrity program for completion equipment, tools & services (including personnel) is in place and functioning.
  • Write all completion, intervention and workover programs and associated amendments.
  • Supervision of design, planning & execution of completions with a bias towards implementation of engineering practices built into the program.
  • Responsible for preparing DCUS (Cost and time) and associated AFE in a timely manner for AFE’s for individual wells.
  • Monitor and support daily wells completion, intervention and workover operations, as applicable.
  • Support senior completion engineer in the preparation of well decision support package documents (SoRs and BoDs).
  • Maintain engagement with other disciplines, BMT, Drilling and Interventions for well planning and delivery.
  • Engineering modelling (WellCAT, Wellplan, Prosper, etc.) as required to support operations delivery at well site.
  • Review all well engineering documentation – SoR’s, drilling programs etc to be fully familiar with planning requirements as appropriate.
  • Responsible for performing CWOPs and Washup meetings in support for finalizing programs and reviewing its execution.
  • Support when required risk mitigation to support completion operations / procedures.
  • Provide rigsite operational support during execution phase working closely with senior completion engineer and supervisors for operations.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring for development of Challenger CE’s to increase competency levels.

Essential Education

  • Education to degree level (BSc) in an engineering or related discipline

Essential experience and job requirements

  • A minimum 7 Years Completion Engineering experience.
  • IWCF (Subsea BOP) Supervisor Well Control certificate or equivalent.
  • Offshore survival (BOSIET) or equivalent and approved Offshore Medical
  • Demonstrable strong completion engineering planning & execution skills.
  • Demonstrable experience of sand control and upper completion operations.Computer Literate in Software Packages such as WellCAT, WellPlan, OpenWells, Prosper, StimPLAN (or equivalent) as well as Word, Excel, Microsoft Project and PowerPoint.

Desirable criteria and qualifications

  • Experience of platform and subsea completion operations.
  • Demonstrable experience with Open Hole Gravel Packs
  • Good interpersonal, influencing & communication skills, demonstrated by an ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams and in a multi-national/-cultural environment.
  • Experience of working with and managing third party service providers.
  • Experience in designing complex completions.
