Graduate education in Computational Science and Engineering (CMSE) at Koç University is offered through an interdisciplinary program among the Departments of the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering. In this program graduate students are trained on modern computational science techniques and their applications to solve scientific and engineering problems. New technological problems and associated research challenges heavily depend on computational modeling and problem solving. Because of the availability of powerful and inexpensive computers model-based computational experimentation is now a standard approach to analysis and design of complex systems where real experiments can be expensive or infeasible. Graduates of the CMSE Program should be capable of formulating solutions to computational problems through the use of multidisciplinary knowledge gained from a combination of classroom and laboratory experiences in basic sciences and engineering. Individuals with B.S. degrees in biology, chemistry, physics, and related engineering disciplines should apply for graduate study in the CMSE Program.

In order to be considered eligible to apply, you must fulfill all of the following criteria:
- PersonalandEducational Background Information (CV)
- RecommendationLetters (2 forMSc, 3 forPh.D)
- TOEFL min 80
- GRE scores
- Statement of Purpose
- Areas of interest
For PhD: Students can apply to the Ph.D. programs with a B.S. or M.S. degree. The Ph.D. degree requires successful completion of 14 courses within 3 years and take the Qualifying Examination within 7th semester at latest beyond the B.S. degree and 7 courses within 2 years and take the Qualifying Examination within 5th semester at latest beyond the M.S. degree. In addition to the credit courses, students must complete the non-credit courses; Seminar, Graduate Writing and Teaching Experience.
For Ms: Applicants must have B.S. or B.A. degrees preferably in engineering or in sciences relevant to the particular degree program. In addition to course work, students are engaged in thesis research. Every student is supervised by an advisor. The M.S. Program with Thesis option requires that the students successfully complete a minimum of 21 credits (with 7 courses) beyond a Bachelor’s degree. In addition to the credit courses, students must complete the non-credit courses; Seminar, Graduate Writing and Teaching Experience.
There is a wide spectrum of financial aid and scholarship opportunities and packages for graduate students at the Graduate School of Sciences and Engineering. These include “KU Graduate Fellowship” and “KU Graduate Scholarship” funded by Koç University and “Project-based Graduate Scholarship” co-funded by external sources such as TÜBİTAK, EU, industry through projects and Koç University.
The scholarships are available to both our MS andPhD students and they include:

After the interview, if you are offered admission into the program you will also receive a scholarship offer.
